``UTSUWA KIRYO'' started as a journey around food and pottery.
The first Utsuwa Tabi is Karatsu ware from Saga Prefecture, which is said to be made by 80% of makers and 20% of users.
We traveled to the town of Karatsu to meet five writers.
This time we would like to introduce you to Masahiro Kishida's Torisu Kiln.
"Torisu Kiln"
Located in a corner of a forest village a little far from the center of Karatsu, Saga Prefecture.
"Torisu Kiln" by Masahiro Kishida.
``Utsuwa has the power to go back and forth between using and appreciating.
I would be happy if we could create a pottery with such power.”
Mr. Kishida says that many of his utensils are thin and delicate, and their dignified appearance is appealing.
Happiness is the moment when you can admire something in your busy daily life.
I create works that aim to create ``everyday beauty'' that will touch the depths of the hearts of those who hold my vessels.
